How we created an amazing Brighton conference energiser for a household name

Amazing Brighton Conference Energiser: Energising 450 Delegates in Just 15 Minutes

The Brief: Re-Energise a Tired Conference Audience

When a household-name company approached us to provide a Brighton conference energiser, they had a very specific challenge.

This wasn’t about filling half an hour with entertainment. They had just 15 minutes to completely change the atmosphere in the room.

It was the start of day two of their conference. Delegates had already spent an intensive first day attending presentations before enjoying an evening celebration together. Naturally, many arrived the following morning feeling tired, slightly jaded and mentally drained.

The organisers knew that if delegates started the day low on energy, concentration would suffer. They wanted something that would instantly wake people up, get them laughing, encourage interaction and prepare them to absorb the important information that followed.

“Amazing! Wow, our Boomwhackers experience for our Global Sales conference hit the spot! The delegates were totally energised by the experience. We will be getting them back for future happenings” Lynden Bugler – British Airways

There was another important consideration.

With over 450 delegates in the large conference room at the beautiful Hilton Brighton Metropole, whatever we delivered had to be incredibly simple from a logistical perspective. We needed to arrive, begin immediately and leave the room just as quickly so the conference programme could continue without disruption.

The Solution: Our Rhythm Gloves Experience

For this event, we recommended our Rhythm Gloves Experience.

Preparation was surprisingly simple.

Before delegates entered the room, we discreetly placed boxes containing brightly coloured rhythm gloves on each table. This meant there was no lengthy setup, no complicated equipment and nothing to distract from the conference itself.

When the time came, our facilitators burst onto the stage with plenty of energy and immediately captured the attention of all 450 delegates.

Rather than handing out instruments or explaining complicated instructions, we began with a series of fun body percussion games.

Within minutes, the room had transformed.

People were smiling, laughing, clapping and joining in together.

Once everyone felt comfortable, it was time to reveal the colourful gloves hidden inside the boxes.

Instantly the room came alive.

Creating Something Extraordinary Together

The coloured gloves weren’t simply there to look impressive.

Each colour represented a different rhythm section.

This allowed us to divide the audience into four groups without anyone needing to move seats or reorganise the room.

Each section learnt its own simple rhythm before gradually combining them into one large performance.

Individually, each part was easy.

Together, they created an impressive layered rhythm that sounded far more complex than anyone believed possible just fifteen minutes earlier.

One of the things we love most about this experience is watching people’s expressions change.

Delegates often begin feeling hesitant or sceptical. Within minutes they are fully engaged, encouraging each other and becoming completely immersed in the performance.

By the finale, 450 people were performing together as one.

The room was filled with colour, rhythm, laughter and an incredible sense of shared achievement.

The Result

The transformation was exactly what the client had hoped for.

In just 15 minutes we had taken a tired audience and turned them into an energised, engaged group ready for the rest of the conference.

The session required virtually no setup, created no disruption to the event schedule and allowed us to clear the room within seconds so the next speaker could begin immediately.

More importantly, delegates left smiling, talking and fully switched on for the day’s presentations.

The client summed it up perfectly:

“Thanks for doing such a fantastic job, and getting the audience so wonderfully energised.”

Looking for a Brighton Conference Energiser?

If you’re planning a conference and need to re-energise your delegates without disrupting your schedule, our music-based conference energisers are designed to do exactly that.

Whether you have 50 delegates or 5,000, we can deliver a high-energy, interactive experience that gets people laughing, collaborating and fully engaged in as little as 10–15 minutes.

Minimal setup. Maximum impact. Memories that last long after the conference has finished.

Whether you need a large group conference energiser in Brighton or you have a small group, our conference energisers are a crucial aspect to factor in when planning your conference. If your delegates are mentally fatigued, their overall experience will be negative, they will retain less information and the entire event becomes less successful. There is real science to back this up!

Why Purpose-Driven Corporate Events Are Replacing Traditional Entertainment

For years, corporate events followed a familiar formula.

A welcome speech.

A few presentations.

Some networking.

Dinner.

Entertainment.

Home.

But something has changed.

Companies are becoming far more intentional about the events they create because they want more than just a room full of people. They want an event that achieves something meaningful.

In other words, they want purpose-driven corporate events.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

Why Traditional Corporate Events Are Falling Flat

One of the biggest challenges organisations face isn’t getting people into the room.

It’s giving them a reason to care once they’re there.

Employees have become increasingly selective about how they spend their time. Whether they’re attending a conference, leadership retreat, company away day or annual meeting, they expect the experience to be worthwhile.

That means the days of adding entertainment simply to fill the agenda are fading.

Instead, every session should answer one question:

Why is this here?

If there’s no clear answer, it probably doesn’t belong.

Purpose Creates Engagement

The most memorable corporate events aren’t necessarily the most expensive.

They’re the ones where every activity reinforces a clear objective.

That objective might be:

  • Building trust between teams.
  • Improving communication.
  • Celebrating success.
  • Supporting organisational change.
  • Strengthening company culture.
  • Helping people feel connected to a shared mission.

When every part of an event supports that objective, people don’t just attend.

They participate.

Shared Experiences Build Stronger Teams

One reason experiential activities have become so popular is that they create something presentations rarely can:

A shared achievement.

When people solve a challenge together, perform together or create something together, they’re building relationships rather than simply exchanging information.

Those shared moments become stories that employees remember long after the event has finished.

That’s why experiences often have a far greater impact on culture than another slide deck ever could.

Why Music Works So Well

Music is one of the few activities where everyone can contribute regardless of their role within the organisation.

A finance director.

A graduate trainee.

A senior executive.

A new recruit.

For a short period of time, hierarchy disappears and collaboration becomes the focus.

Participants must listen.

Communicate.

Support one another.

Adapt.

Celebrate success together.

The outcome isn’t simply creating music.

It’s creating connection.

That’s why purpose-driven musical experiences are increasingly being used to reinforce leadership themes, collaboration, communication and organisational culture.

Designing Events Around Outcomes

Instead of asking:

“What entertainment should we book?”

Many organisations are now asking:

“What outcome do we want people to leave with?”

That shift changes everything.

Entertainment becomes experience.

Experience becomes learning.

Learning becomes lasting organisational change.

The Future of Corporate Events

The companies creating the most successful events are no longer measuring success by applause or attendance.

They’re asking:

  • Did people connect?
  • Did teams collaborate differently?
  • Did the experience reinforce our values?
  • Will people remember this six months from now?

Purpose-driven corporate events aren’t simply a trend.

They’re a reflection of a wider shift in how organisations think about employee engagement, culture and leadership.

When every part of an event serves a meaningful purpose, people leave with something far more valuable than good memories.

They leave feeling connected to each other and to the organisation they’re helping to build.

Why Interactive Corporate Entertainment Creates Greater Impact

Why Corporate Events Need More Than Just Entertainment

For years, corporate entertainment followed a familiar formula.

A performer takes centre stage. The audience watches. The performance ends. Everyone applauds and moves on.

There is nothing wrong with great entertainment. A talented band, comedian or performer can certainly create an enjoyable experience (and we provide a host of amazing entertainment for corporate events too). However, many event organisers are beginning to recognise that enjoyment alone is not always enough.

If the goal is to create stronger connections, higher engagement and lasting memories, passive entertainment can only take you so far.

This is why interactive corporate entertainment is becoming increasingly popular at conferences, corporate events and company celebrations.

The difference is simple. Instead of watching something happen, people become part of it.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

The Problem With Traditional Corporate Entertainment

Traditional entertainment is largely based on observation.

The audience sits back while someone else provides the experience. People may enjoy the performance in the moment, but their role remains passive throughout.

The challenge is that passive experiences are often forgotten surprisingly quickly.

Think back to events you have attended over the years. You may remember enjoying the entertainment, but can you recall many details months later?

In contrast, experiences that involve participation tend to leave a much stronger impression because people become emotionally invested in the outcome.

They are not simply watching the story unfold. They are helping to create it.

Why Interactive Corporate Entertainment Creates Greater Impact

Interactive corporate entertainment changes the relationship between the audience and the experience.

Rather than observing, participants become contributors.

This creates a completely different atmosphere. Energy levels rise, barriers begin to disappear and people engage with each other in ways that would never happen during a passive performance.

The experience becomes something shared rather than something consumed.

Music-based experiences are particularly effective because they encourage collaboration from the very beginning. Whether through drumming workshops, beatboxing sessions, junk percussion, conference choirs or large-scale rhythm experiences, participants work together to create something collectively.

The result is not only entertaining but genuinely engaging.

The Psychology Behind Participation and Shared Experiences

One reason interactive corporate entertainment is so effective lies in human psychology.

People form stronger memories when they actively participate in an experience. Shared achievement creates emotional investment, which in turn increases memory retention.

This is why people often remember the experiences they helped create far more vividly than the performances they simply watched.

There is also a social benefit.

When groups collaborate towards a shared outcome, trust develops naturally. Colleagues communicate differently, support each other and often discover strengths they did not know existed.

Music can amplify this effect even further. Shared rhythm and collective participation have been linked to increased feelings of connection and cooperation, helping create an atmosphere where people feel more engaged with those around them.

Creating Corporate Events People Actually Remember

The most successful corporate events are rarely remembered because of a particular slide deck, agenda item or presentation.

They are remembered because of how they made people feel.

Interactive corporate entertainment creates these moments by transforming audiences into participants. It encourages collaboration, creativity and genuine connection while maintaining the fun and energy people expect from an event experience.

Rather than simply entertaining an audience, it creates a shared story that people become part of.

And that is why so many organisations are moving beyond traditional entertainment and embracing more interactive experiences.

Because when people create something together, they remember it.

Why Traditional Team Building Often Falls Short

Experiential team building has become one of the most effective ways for organisations to bring people together. As workplaces evolve and employees spend more time communicating through screens, businesses are looking for ways to create genuine human connection when teams meet in person.

Traditional team building activities often focus on completing tasks or solving challenges. While these can be effective, they sometimes struggle to create the emotional engagement needed to leave a lasting impact. Participants may complete the activity successfully but quickly forget the experience afterwards.

Experiential team building takes a different approach.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

Instead of simply completing a task, participants become immersed in a shared experience. The emphasis shifts from competition to collaboration, from observation to participation and from individual achievement to collective success.

This is what makes experiential team building so powerful.

When people actively create something together, they become emotionally invested in the outcome. They are no longer passive attendees. They are contributors. This creates stronger engagement, higher energy levels and deeper connections between colleagues.

What Makes Experiential Team Building Different?

The defining feature of experiential team building is meaningful participation.

Many corporate events involve people sitting, watching and listening. Experiential activities invite people to get involved. They encourage interaction, creativity and collaboration from the very beginning.

As teams work together towards a shared goal, communication improves naturally. Individuals discover strengths in their colleagues that they may never have seen in the workplace. Barriers begin to disappear and people start engaging with each other in more authentic ways.

The result is often a stronger sense of trust, understanding and connection.

The Power of Meaningful Participation

One of the reasons experiential team building is so effective is that people remember experiences far more vividly than information.

Think about the corporate events you have attended in the past. You may struggle to remember specific presentations or agenda items. However, you are much more likely to remember the moments when you were actively involved.

Experiential activities create these memorable moments.

Whether participants are collaborating creatively, solving challenges together or building towards a collective performance, they are sharing an experience that becomes part of the team’s story.

These shared experiences help strengthen workplace relationships long after the event itself has ended.

Why Music Creates Exceptional Experiential Team Building

Music is one of the most powerful tools available for experiential team building because it naturally encourages participation.

Unlike many activities, music requires people to listen, respond and collaborate in real time. Everyone contributes to the outcome and every contribution matters.

Activities such as drumming workshops, beatboxing sessions, junk percussion experiences and team performances allow groups to create something together regardless of experience or ability.

No one needs to be a musician. The focus is not on individual talent but collective achievement.

As the group builds rhythm, creates music and works towards a shared performance, something remarkable happens. Energy rises, confidence grows and connections develop naturally.

Many participants arrive feeling unsure of what is possible. By the end of the session they have achieved something together that initially felt beyond their reach.

That shared sense of achievement is what makes experiential team building so memorable.

The Future of Team Building

As organisations place greater value on employee engagement, collaboration and workplace culture, experiential team building continues to grow in popularity.

People increasingly want experiences rather than activities. They want meaningful participation rather than passive observation. They want opportunities to connect with colleagues in ways that feel genuine and memorable.

Experiential team building delivers exactly that.

By creating immersive, interactive experiences that bring people together, organisations can build stronger relationships, improve engagement and create lasting memories that extend far beyond the event itself.

If you are looking for a team building experience that genuinely engages your people, experiential team building could be the most valuable investment you make in your next corporate event.

“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Everyone loved it – I even overheard one person telling someone it was the single best team event they’ve ever done. So thank you so much to you and the team for making it a great afternoon.”

Do you want.. conference ideas?

There is a reason music-based conference energisers work so well.

Most conference sessions ask delegates to sit, listen and absorb information. Music changes the dynamic completely. When an audience creates something together, everyone becomes involved. Energy rises, barriers disappear and the room becomes fully engaged.

The result is a more connected, energised audience that is ready to participate, collaborate and get more from the rest of the event.

We even have the science to prove it. Discover why music-based conference energisers create such a powerful and lasting impact.

Why Experiential Conference Energisers Create Better Results

Conferences have never been better at delivering information.

The problem is that information alone is no longer enough.

Many conference organisers spend months planning keynote speakers, presentations and packed agendas, only to discover that audience energy begins to fade as the day progresses. Delegates become passive, attention drops and valuable messages are forgotten almost as quickly as they were delivered.

This is one of the biggest challenges facing modern events. People are bombarded with information every day. By the time they arrive at a conference, they are already managing overflowing inboxes, constant notifications and busy schedules. Adding more content does not necessarily create more engagement.

In fact, the opposite is often true.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

The Problem With Passive Conference Audiences

Traditional conference formats place attendees into a passive role. They sit, listen and absorb information for hours at a time.

While there will always be a place for great speakers and valuable content, the human brain is not designed to maintain focus indefinitely. As energy levels drop, engagement drops with them.

The result is a room full of delegates who may physically be present but are mentally elsewhere.

This creates a challenge for event organisers. How do you keep people engaged throughout the day while ensuring key messages are remembered?

The answer increasingly lies in participation rather than presentation.

Why Experiential Conference Energisers Create Better Results

Experiential conference energisers are designed to transform audiences from observers into active participants.

Instead of simply listening, delegates become involved in creating something together. This immediately changes the dynamic of the room.

Energy levels rise. People interact with colleagues. Barriers begin to disappear. Most importantly, participants become emotionally invested in the experience.

Research has shown that shared activities can strengthen social bonds and improve memory retention. When people actively participate rather than passively consume information, they are more likely to remember both the experience and the messages associated with it.

This is why conference energisers have become such a popular addition to modern corporate events.

Conference Engagement Ideas That Actually Involve Your Audience

Music-based experiences are particularly effective because they are inclusive, fast-paced and require no previous experience.

Drumming workshops use rhythm to bring large groups together quickly, creating a sense of unity and shared achievement.

Beatboxing sessions introduce creativity, humour and collaboration while encouraging delegates to step outside their comfort zones in a supportive environment.

Choir experiences allow groups to work together towards a collective performance, creating a powerful sense of connection and accomplishment.

Boomwhacker workshops use colour-coded musical tubes to create surprisingly impressive group performances, making them ideal for conferences where time is limited.

Rhythm gloves sessions transform everyday rubber gloves into instruments, demonstrating the power of collaboration wrapped up in the hilarious sight of a room full of people wearing marigolds!

What these activities all have in common is participation. Rather than sitting and watching, delegates become part of the experience.

The Future of Conference Engagement

The most successful conferences are no longer those with the busiest agendas. They are the ones that create memorable moments and meaningful connections.

Conference organisers are increasingly recognising that engagement is not something that happens automatically. It must be designed into the event experience.

By combining valuable content with interactive conference energisers, organisers can maintain energy, strengthen connections and ensure delegates leave feeling inspired rather than exhausted.

If you are looking for conference engagement ideas that go beyond traditional formats, experiential activities can transform the way your audience connects, participates and remembers your event.

Do you want.. team building?

There is a reason music-based team building works better.

Most team building puts people in the same room while they tackle their own challenge. Music is different. When your team makes music together, every single person has to contribute, listen and trust each other. The result is a level of connection, energy and shared achievement that most other activities simply cannot produce.

Why Human Connection Is Becoming the Most Valuable Part of Corporate Events

Why Corporate Events Need More Than Information

Corporate events have traditionally focused on delivering information. Conferences, meetings and away days were often built around presentations, schedules and content-heavy agendas. While information still matters, expectations have changed significantly.

People no longer judge events purely by how much content was delivered. They remember how the experience made them feel. Did they feel energised? Included? Inspired? Connected to the people around them?

This shift is changing the way organisations approach corporate events. Businesses are beginning to realise that creating genuine human connection is often more valuable than simply delivering more information.

There are even scientific studies to show how music team building can help you grow a stronger team.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

The Problem With Passive Audiences

One of the biggest challenges facing corporate events is audience disengagement. Long presentations and passive formats can quickly drain energy from a room, especially during full-day conferences or large-scale events.

Even when the content is strong, people naturally lose focus when they remain passive for too long. This is why more event organisers are introducing interactive experiences that encourage participation and collaboration.

The goal is no longer simply to keep people occupied. It is to create moments that bring people together in meaningful ways.

Why Shared Experiences Build Stronger Connection

Human connection happens most naturally when people actively experience something together. Shared experiences create emotional memories that are far more powerful than simply listening to information.

This is one reason experiential activities are becoming increasingly popular at corporate events. When people collaborate, communicate and create together, barriers begin to disappear. Teams become more relaxed, open and engaged with one another.

Music-based experiences are especially effective because they create immediate participation. Through rhythm, movement and shared performance, groups quickly begin working together in sync.

Whether through drumming workshops, percussion sessions or large group musical experiences, participants become part of something collective rather than simply observing from the sidelines.

The Science Behind Human Connection

There is also a strong psychological element behind these experiences. Shared rhythmic activities are known to stimulate the release of oxytocin and endorphins, chemicals associated with trust, bonding and positive emotion.

This helps explain why collaborative musical experiences often leave teams feeling more connected and energised afterwards.

When people laugh together, perform together and achieve something collectively, relationships strengthen naturally. Colleagues often discover different sides to each other’s personalities and recognise strengths that may never appear in a traditional workplace environment.

Why Human Connection Matters More Than Ever

As workplaces become increasingly digital, genuine face-to-face connection has become even more valuable. Hybrid working, remote communication and busy schedules can leave teams feeling disconnected from one another.

Corporate events now play an important role in rebuilding that connection. The most successful events are no longer those that simply deliver information, but those that create memorable shared experiences that strengthen relationships.

This is why human connection at corporate events is becoming such a key focus for organisers. Businesses are recognising that when people feel connected, they collaborate better, communicate more openly and work more effectively together afterwards.

Creating Events People Actually Remember

The events people remember are rarely the ones with the most slides or the busiest agendas. They are the events where people felt something.

Experiential activities that involve collaboration, creativity and participation help create these moments. They transform audiences from passive observers into active participants and create shared memories that continue long after the event has ended.

As corporate events continue to evolve, human connection is becoming one of the most valuable outcomes an event can deliver.

Why Experiential Team Building Is Changing Corporate Events

Why Experiential Team Building Is Changing Corporate Events

Corporate events have changed significantly in recent years. What once worked well, no longer delivers the same impact. On this page we break down what does work today.

Why Traditional Corporate Events Often Struggle to Engage People

Corporate events have changed significantly in recent years. What once worked well, such as long presentations, passive audiences and predictable activities, no longer delivers the same impact. Many attendees now expect more than simply being spoken at or shown slides. They want to be involved, engaged and part of something meaningful.

This shift has created a challenge for organisers. Even well-planned events can fall flat if the audience is not actively participating. People switch off, energy drops and the key messages of the event are often forgotten soon after.

As a result, businesses are rethinking how they approach corporate experiences. The focus is moving away from passive delivery and towards more interactive and immersive formats.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

How Experiential Team Building Creates Stronger Human Connection

Experiential team building is designed to change the dynamic completely. Instead of observing, participants become active contributors. They collaborate, communicate and create something together in real time.

This shared involvement naturally builds stronger human connection. When people work towards a common goal, barriers begin to break down. Colleagues who may not usually interact find themselves collaborating in a completely different environment, often discovering new strengths in one another.

Music-based experiences are particularly effective in this space. Whether it is drumming, rhythm workshops, beatboxing or group performance activities, the act of synchronising with others creates immediate engagement. People listen more closely, respond to each other and quickly develop a sense of unity.

There are even scientific studies to show how music team building can help you grow a stronger team.

Why Shared Experiences Leave a Lasting Impact on Teams

One of the key strengths of experiential team building is the lasting emotional impact it creates. Shared experiences are far more memorable than passive ones. When teams achieve something together, they carry that memory back into the workplace.

This has a direct effect on communication, collaboration and morale. Teams often return from these experiences feeling more connected and more confident in working together.

There is also a psychological element at play. Shared achievement and group participation are known to stimulate positive emotional responses, helping to build trust and strengthen relationships between colleagues.

The Future of Corporate Events Is Interactive and Immersive

Corporate events are increasingly moving towards formats that prioritise participation over presentation. Organisations are recognising that engagement cannot be assumed simply by bringing people into a room. It has to be designed into the experience itself.

Experiential team building meets this need by transforming audiences into active participants. Instead of sitting back and listening, people are involved in creating something together. This shift fundamentally changes the energy in the room.

At the heart of this approach is the idea that connection matters more than content alone. When people feel involved, they remember more, engage more and take more away from the experience.

The Power of Music in Experiential Team Building

Music is one of the most effective tools for experiential engagement. It is immediate, inclusive and does not require any prior experience. Whether through rhythm, percussion or vocal participation, music naturally brings people together.

It also encourages listening, timing and collaboration. When a group synchronises rhythmically, a sense of unity develops quickly. This makes music-based experiences ideal for breaking down barriers and building team confidence.

From drumming workshops to large-scale percussion sessions and creative group performances, music offers a unique way to engage teams of all sizes.

Where Experiential Team Building Is Used

These types of experiences are now widely used across corporate events, including:

Each format is designed to suit different objectives, but all share the same core principle: active participation creates stronger outcomes.

The Future of Corporate Events

As expectations continue to evolve, experiential team building is becoming less of a trend and more of a standard. Businesses want events that are memorable, engaging and meaningful. Employees want to feel part of something, not just attend it.

This shift is redefining how corporate events are designed. The most successful experiences are no longer those with the most information, but those that create the strongest human connection.

Experiential team building sits at the centre of this change, offering a powerful way to bring people together, build energy and create lasting impact.

How to choose the right conference energiser: a practical buyer’s guide

How to choose the right conference energiser

  • Conference Energisers & Ice Breakers
  • Experts at Engaging Large Audiences Instantly
  • Huge Impact In As Little As 20 Minutes
  • No Setup, No Packdown = Instant Energy

Proven to boost engagement, retention, and positive experiences – helping your event deliver a stronger ROI.

What is a conference energiser and why does it matter?

A conference energiser is a short, structured activity designed to re-engage delegates during a long event. It typically runs between 15 and 60 minutes and sits as a kick off to the day, after lunch to re-energise, or at the end of the day to finish on a high!

Done well, a conference energiser transforms the atmosphere in a room. Done badly, it creates awkward silence, reluctant participation and a quiet resentment towards whoever put it in the agenda. The difference usually comes down to how well matched the activity is to the group, the timing and the constraints of the day.

Whether you need a large group conference energiser or you have a small group, our conference energisers are a crucial aspect to factor in when planning your conference. If your delegates are mentally fatigued, their overall experience will be negative, they will retain less information and the entire event becomes less successful. There is real science to back this up!

A conference energiser gives physical and mental benefits to get the blood pumping, the endorphins flowing and laughter to erupt.

Conference energisers and ice breakers are important to maintain engagement, focus, and energy levels during what is often a long, mentally draining event.

  • Duration

    20minutes - 2 hours

  • Room size

    Dependent on group size

The six things to consider before choosing a conference energiser

1. Group size

Some activities cap out at 50 people. Others work for 500. Know your numbers before you shortlist anything.

2. Time available

Be realistic. If you have 10 minutes, you need something that requires zero setup and zero explanation. Not everything qualifies.

3. Setup and pack-down

An activity that takes 20 minutes to set up and 20 minutes to clear away is not a 15-minute energiser. Factor this into your schedule.

4. Audience profile

A senior leadership conference calls for something different to a sales kickoff. Consider formality, age range and cultural mix.

5. The message

The best energisers reinforce the theme of the event. If your conference is about collaboration or transformation, your energiser should reflect that.

6. Inclusivity

Anything physically demanding or competitive risks leaving some delegates behind. The best energisers work for everyone in the room regardless of age, fitness or background.

Our conference energisers get your delegates working together creatively, just outside of their comfort zone. They pull together in a level playing field to create a performance, a moment, an experience that they don’t get to feel anywhere else. And importantly they share it with it each other. That is powerful.

“Amazing! Wow, our Boomwhackers experience for our Global Sales conference hit the spot! The delegates were totally energised by the experience. We will be getting them back for future happenings” Lynden Bugler – British Airways

We can run our conference energisers and ice breakers anywhere, get going in seconds and leave the room in seconds. They need very little equipment and they’re suitable for any group size and any duration from 10 minutes up to an 2 hours.

Why music-based energisers consistently outperform other options

The most common conference energiser options are icebreaker games, light physical activities, or facilitated discussion exercises. These can work, but they share a common weakness: they tend to create individual or small-group experiences rather than a single shared moment for the whole room.

Music is structurally different. When an entire room makes music together, every delegate is part of the same experience at the same time. The energy is collective rather than fragmented, and the result is a room that feels noticeably different after the session than it did before.

Music-based energisers also carry a built-in message that most other activities cannot: that when people work together and listen to each other, they can create something none of them could have achieved alone. For conferences built around themes of collaboration, communication or company culture, that message lands without a single slide.

Music team building for large groups: everything you need to know

Music team building for large groups, done right. Real case studies and proven activities for 100 to 5,000+ people. Get a free quote today.

Planning team building for large groups is a different challenge entirely.

Finding something that works for 20 people is straightforward enough. Designing team building for large groups that genuinely works for 100, 300 or 1,000 people at the same time is a much harder problem.

Most activities simply do not scale. Split 300 people into groups of 10 for an escape room and you end up with 30 separate experiences happening simultaneously, with no shared moment, no collective energy, and a logistical headache for whoever organised it.

Music is different. And in this guide we explain why, with real case studies from events we have delivered for groups of up to 600 people across the UK and Europe.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

Why music team building for large groups works

Music has a unique property that makes it exceptionally well suited to large groups: it is inherently collective. When 300 people play boomwhackers together and the room suddenly sounds like an orchestra, every single person in that room feels it at the same time. When 450 people learn a section of a bespoke song and then perform it together with a live band, the energy created is unlike anything a more conventional activity can produce.

There is no version of that moment in an escape room, a cooking class or a sports day. Those activities fragment a large group into smaller units. Music unites the whole room as one.

Practically speaking, music team building for large groups also scales without losing quality. Our facilitators are professional musicians and performers with years of experience reading and energising large rooms. Many of our activities require zero setup time, meaning they can slot into a conference schedule without disrupting the flow of the day.

There are even scientific studies to show how music can help you grow a stronger team.

Case Study 1. Rhythm gloves conference energiser

Conference energiser - 15 minutes - Zero setup.
Music team building for large groups | Rock & Roll Experience | Music Team BuildingThe challenge: Provide a high-energy conference energiser for 450 delegates at 9am on day two of a conference. Only 15 minutes available. Zero time for setup or pack-down.

What we did: We chose rhythm gloves. No equipment to carry in, nothing to arrange on stage. Each delegate was instantly on their feet, coloured rubber gloves on, creating body percussion rhythms together. Within minutes we were layering complex rhythms between the different coloured groups. The room went from bleary-eyed and passive to laughing, smiling and genuinely connected in under five minutes.

The result: Every delegate was energised and ready for the day ahead. The organiser told us: "Thanks for doing such a fantastic job, and getting the audience so wonderfully energised."

Five minutes. 600 people. No setup time. No equipment. What can youMusic team building for large audiences | Rock & Roll Experience | Music Team Building actually achieve?

What we did: We deployed one of our professional vocal facilitators to create an entirely improvised piece of music using nothing but the human voice. Using the same conducting approach that Grammy-winner Jacob Collier uses to stun audiences around the world, our facilitator took 600 people with no prior singing experience on a journey that left them delighted and genuinely astonished at what they had created together.

The message landed without a single slide or script: when we work together, we can create things that seem impossible at first.

The result: "It was fabulous. The big boss was laughing and smiling the whole time, so a job well done to break up a very long day for everyone."

Case Study 3. A full day of energisers building to one performance

Full day. Bespoke Live band. Conference-wide
The challenge: Create severalLarge group team building | Rock & Roll Experience | Music Team Building short energisers throughout a full conference day to keep energy and engagement high, then bring the whole group together for one big shared performance as a finale.

What we did: We split the 450 delegates into three subgroups, each working on a different section of a bespoke piece of music. The song was a reimagined version of a famous Queen track, with lyrics rewritten to reflect the company ethos and the conference message, making sure the key themes of the day were felt rather than just heard.

Every time we returned to the main room, the energy lifted immediately. Delegates knew something fun was coming.

For the finale, with a full live band and four expert facilitators on stage, the three groups came together as one. The result was electric. For many in the room it was one of those rare moments where the hairs on the back of the neck genuinely stand up.

The result: "I cannot thank you and your team enough for the amazing performance you put together. I had so many people come to me to say they had the best time!"

Case Study 4. Harmonica energiser at the Mermaid Theatre

The client needed something to re-engage delegates during a long all-day conference at the Mermaid Theatre in London. The risk: restless delegates losing concentration and missing the key messages of the day.

The challenge: Re-engageMusical team building for large groups | Rock & Roll Experience | Music Team Building delegates during a long all-day conference at the Mermaid Theatre. The client was concerned that a full day in one room would lead to restlessness and disengagement, affecting delegates' ability to retain the key messages of the event.

What we did: We kept the session a surprise. Our facilitator began performing blues harmonica from behind the curtain, drawing immediate smiles and applause before appearing on stage and getting the whole room on their feet. Harmonicas were distributed and within minutes every delegate was learning authentic techniques, producing everything from steam train sounds to cow moos before building to a full group performance.

Beyond the fun, the session carried a clear and deliberate message: every person has a role to play, and together you can achieve far more than you think. Each delegate left with their own harmonica as a memento of the day.

The session required no stage setup and could exit as quickly as any presenter walking off stage, making it completely seamless within the conference schedule.

The result: "The energy and the way you engaged with the crowd was brilliant. Even on the toughest of days you managed to get most of them involved. I only wish we had more than 45 minutes." Rebecca Nicholson, Retail Support Manager UK and Ireland, Tiffany and Co.

The best music activities for large groups

Not every activity in our catalogue works equally well at scale. These are the ones that consistently deliver for large groups:

Boomwhackers – Brilliant at any scale. The bigger the group, the more impressive the sound. Works for groups from 50 to 5,000.

Rock and roll choir – Incredible energy in a large room. No singing experience needed, and the results genuinely surprise people every time.

African drumming – Raw, primal and impossible to resist. A large drumming circle creates an energy that is hard to describe until you have experienced it.

Thriller dance – High energy, hilarious, and the moment the whole group performs it together is always a highlight of any event.

Samba drumming – Pure rhythm and joy. Scales beautifully and works particularly well for outdoor summer events and energisers.

Beatbox – Modern, totally accessible, and the perfect short energiser to re-engage a large conference room after lunch

Harmonicas – The blues harmonica experience takes people on an American journey, learning the core skills to build into the final performance. Delegates get to keep their hamronicas!

Rhythm gloves – Rubber gloves, surprised delegates and instant rhythmic connection. This one breaks the ice, gets everyone laughing and goes beyond what people think possible.

It works for conferences too

One of the most underrated uses of music-based activities is as a conference energiser. Post-lunch slumps, long days, a room full of people staring at slide decks. A 15-minute boomwhacker session or beatboxing workshop can re-engage a room faster than any coffee break. We’ve done this with groups from 20 to over 500 people, and the lift in energy is immediate.

No musical experience needed

The most common concern event planners raise is “but our team can’t play music.” That’s entirely the point. Our sessions are designed so that anyone can participate and feel successful within minutes. The joy comes from the surprise of what the group can achieve together, not individual talent.

Whether it’s drumming, a rock choir, learning the Thriller dance, or building a charity guitar, the activities are built for real mixed groups: the enthusiasts, the reluctant ones, and everyone in between.

What to consider when planning music team building for large groups

Venue space. We can work in most configurations, but a room where everyone can see the facilitators clearly makes a significant difference to the energy. We will always advise on the best setup before the day.

Duration. With larger groups, a 45 to 90-minute session tends to hit the sweet spot. Long enough to build to a genuine shared moment, short enough to keep energy high throughout.

Timing. Mid-afternoon is consistently where music energisers perform best, when energy dips are most pronounced and the need for re-engagement is greatest. That said, as case study one shows, we can deliver results at 9am with 15 minutes notice if we have to.

No musical experience needed. Ever. Our sessions are designed so that anyone can participate and feel successful within minutes. The joy comes from what the group achieves together, not from individual talent.

“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Everyone loved it – I even overheard one person telling someone it was the single best team event they’ve ever done. So thank you so much to you and the team for making it a great afternoon.”

Why music team building beats escape rooms (and most other activities too)

Why music team building beats escape rooms (and most other activities too)

Escape rooms, cooking classes, go-karting. They’re fine. But if you want your team to actually feel something together, music does something no other activity can.

The problem with “typical” team building

Most corporate team building follows a familiar formula: book an activity, turn up, try not to embarrass yourself, go home. It can be fun in the moment. But ask anyone what they remembered from last year’s escape room a few weeks later, and you’ll get a polite shrug.

The issue isn’t effort. It’s that many activities create parallel experience rather than shared experience. Each person is focused on their own puzzle, their own go-kart, their own dish. The team happens to be in the same room. That’s not quite the same thing.

“I can honestly say it was one of the best team events we’ve done. It’s a great model for showing how a team tackles an enormous challenge and comes together through the process while at the same time being incredible fun that can’t help but pull the teams closer together.”

What makes music different

Music is inherently collaborative. When a group of 40 people plays boomwhackers together and suddenly sounds like an orchestra, something shifts. When 80 people who’ve never sung together pull off a three-part harmony, the room erupts. That reaction isn’t manufactured. It’s real.

Research consistently shows that making music together synchronises people both physically and emotionally. Heart rates align. Oxytocin (the bonding hormone) increases. And because everyone is both performer and audience, every single person has skin in the game.

There are even scientific studies to show how music can help you grow a stronger team.

Typical activities

Escape rooms, cooking classes, sports days

❌ Often competitive, not collaborative

❌ Easy for quiet people to fade into background

❌ Memory fades quickly

❌ Logistically complex to scale

Music team building

Drumming, choir, boomwhackers, rock band…

✅ Everyone contributes, no passengers

✅ Inclusive across age, fitness, background

✅ Emotionally memorable, people talk about it

✅ Scales from 10 to 1,000+ people
