Team building checklist – team building planning tips

Simple Team Building Checklist

Team building checklist tips to help you plan a team building event

If you are looking to plan a team building event for your company, you want to ensure that you book something that is fun and engaging but also fulfils its purpose and has a positive effect on everyone involved. Here are a few simple steps for you to think about before you begin your research with our team building checklist.

Team building checklist, team building, events, corporate events1. Identify company needs

The first question you should ask yourself is, “What needs to be improved in the corporation and what do you want from the team building activity?” If you can establish this in the first instance then you can target your search for activities on the most effective options to achieve the desired result. You need to ensure you are aware of the aims and outcomes of the chosen team building event before you start researching the different types of events.

2. Budget

Most team building companies are flexible with their pricing and can change the event to help accommodate you. So it does help to be forth coming with the amount you are willing to spend so that they can help you find an activity that fits in with your costings. Most team building companies have a variety of different activities and events with various pricing levels so there is something for everyone.

3. Venue

Perhaps you have a favourite luxurious hotel in London or, depending on the event you choose, you may wish to have the activity take place at your premises. In a lot of cases the team building company can organise the venue for you or are happy to just guide you to get the right venue and ensure you have thought about the logistics for the day. Just remember to think about the size of rooms, layout,  location, accessibility for staff and potential AV equipment.

4. Agenda

Its always good when planning something for your staff to write up an agenda and programme for the day. It will help prevent you from forgetting anything but also these types of events do tend to run over so its good to have a timescale of what you would like to happen and when you would like your team building to start and finish. The team building company will be there to ensure their part of the day runs smoothly but in between you may wish to have an inspirational guest speaker or a member of your management team talk about the success of the company and his or her views for the future. You will have lunch, tea breaks, etc so all of this should be taken into consideration prior to the booking of an event so you know how the day or days are going to run.

rock and roll experience 5. Talk to your staff

This is very important. If employees are asked for ideas then they need to be dealt with constructively. If the ideas are dismissed or ignored it tends to make people feel they have wasted their time or are not a valued staff member. Everyone will have different views on what they consider to be beneficial for the company and what they think will be a good team building event. Depending on how big your company is you may wish to have a few smaller meetings with each team leader to establish everyone’s views and ideas. You can then take 3 of these options and request quotes from each company you have selected.

6. Open your mind

Finally be open minded because you may find that the majority of your employees want to go for something totally different to what you expected. But that’s ok because it’s predominantly down to them and if your staff are happy then you should be happy. Team building is an extremely important and vital part of any company. In recent years it has become more popular and has been proven to increase employee moral and positivity, which in turn will have a huge impact on the success of your company.

We hope our Team building checklist has been of help to you and will help you to book an amazing team building activity for your staff. If you would like to have more information about the events on our website then please Get in touch today for a no obligation quote.

6 Essential steps to help working together in the workplace

Working together at work is crucial

Here’s how to make it happen

Were put together 6 essential steps to help working together in the workplace and help make your office environment more harmonious. The concept of your employers working well together seems like an easy one, you all come to the same building, to work hard, to better yourselves professionally in order to earn more and progress in life; it sounds simple. However there are a few things that you can adhere to thus ensuring that the work journey for you and your staff is a successful one.

1. Respect Space

The first step to working together is ensuring that you respect one another’s space. If you are constantly stepping on your colleagues toes or being overbearing within the workplace you may find that the office harmony isn’t so great and that they don’t want to work with you. So always ask before entering a persons cubicle or office, be respectful and they will in turn do the same to you. It’s important that everyone feels like they have control of their work area.

2. Respect Time

The second step and also just as important as the first is respect people’s time. If you are allowed access to a colleagues work space try and refrain from discussing personal issues, unless they are also a friend and the conversation is not predominately work related. If not then stick to the point and be professional. Your colleague might be working to am important deadline and their time is just as valuable as yours.

3. Reward and Encourage

The third step to working well with your colleagues is to encourage those working with and around you to be as creative as possible. Also try to be appreciative of each other. Everyone is a valuable asset to the company and this appreciation will spur everyone to work harder for the same goal. So a pat on the back or a high five can really go a long way in ensuring everyone is working hard and feels good about themselves. As a manager or team leader you have greater control over rewarding those around you with bonuses or other perks, such as a day off, gym membership, or perhaps start a employer of the month system to help people achieve their work goals.

4. Take advantage of resources

Another good way to provide a positive atmosphere within the workplace is to ensure that all staff have access to training programmes that help workers become more efficient in their roles. More available resources make people feel more confident when doing their jobs and it gives them that extra support without having to constantly ask managers if they are stuck.

5. Be Supportive

Offering support in person to each person working with you or under you is something a lot of employers forget. It is important that the workplace maintains an open-door policy that encourages all staff to come to you with problems that they cannot resolve on their own. If you cannot help, you can direct that person toward the benefits or resources that can help them.

6. Arrange Fun Events

Finally, organise some team building activities for your company, as the rewards from high team effectiveness are well worth it. This is why team building activities really do help your business by enhancing employee relationships thus making your office environment a good one to work in.

Are you a Walking Dead Fan?

Love The Walking Dead? Bring the zombie vibe to your team building event!

walking dead, zombies, thriller, team building, dance, music, corporate eventWith season 7 of the highly addictive television programme The Walking Dead being back on our screens, we are sure you are enjoying this blood thirsty knuckle ride of show! And for that reason we feel it’s right time to mention our zombie themed team building event.

Our thriller dance team building event is fun and energising and is ideal if you are looking for something a little different to bring your work colleagues together. Using professional choreographers, we teach you the iconic moves from the famous Thriller dance routine before bringing it all together to learn it for a full performance. Absolutely no dance experience is required and even those with two left feet and no rhythm will still find it easy to join in.

Then once you have mastered the dance its time to transform you all into some authentic gruesome zombies. We will give you a short tutorial on how to become a realistic zombie but you might not need help if you are already a Walking Dead fan. We then supply you with some nice blood splattered costumes so you can truly get into character, we also have Michael’s iconic red and black track suit so someone can become the legend himself! If you have a CEO or manager with a good sense of fun then it can work really well for them to play the part of Jacko.

If you want this as a shorter energiser session, then we can avoid the zombie make-up and get right down to it with the dance routine. Whatever you decide it will be a unique event that will be remembered in years to come.

So whether you want this as a smaller group affair for two hours with zombie makeovers, or a 30 minute energiser at a large conference, this Thriller team building event will leave your audience laughing and pumped up with excitement.

“We are often invited to PA/EA functions and I can safely say this was the best event I’ve been to in my 7 years as a PA. The event was well organised, the staff were superb and the activities were all of a high standard. Kindest Regards, Charlotte.”

Why not film the fun? Our film crew can capture all the fun in high definition and edit it for you to keep those zombie memories for all to enjoy.

Shine Like A Star With Our Rock and Roll Choir

Shine like a star and sing your way to success with our rock and roll choir team building event. Singing has always  been big business and now with the likes of Gary Barlow launching his new Saturday night talent show “Let it Shine” or Simon Cowell with the “X Factor”, it seems more and more people are singing their hearts out and enjoying their moment in the limelight.rock choir, rock and roll, gary barlow, let it shine, simon cowell, x factor, team building

Singing together is one of the best teambuilding activities you can do.  Why?  Because singing in a choir improves confidence and communication between people, reduces their stress levels and increases their sense of wellbeing and alertness. Our Rock and Roll Choir Team Building Event workshops can be a large or small group activity that creates harmony whilst providing loads of fun. With our trained vocalists we will take the teams through some enjoyable vocal and rhythm exercises. Amidst much laughter, a journey of discovery is undertaken in which a harmonious, unified team is created. At the end they will be able to sing a popular tune as a choir group with surprisingly good results.

No previous singing experience is needed for these workshops. We choose easily accessible songs from the rock and pop world. This can be based upon the ethos of your company, a recent project, or simply chosen by us. Our choir events can run as a short ice breaker or energizer session, as well as a longer team building event which allow the delegates to write their own lyrics to a famous song which could be linked to your company or left open to their imagination.

So why choose the Rock and Roll choir? Here’s a list that highlights the benefits of this event:

  • Improving communication between departments, management and co-workers.
  • Increase effectiveness in accomplishing a goal.
  • Better team and better leadership skills.
  • Uplifting morale and team spirit
  • Bringing a sense of harmony into the work place.
  • Developing co-operation and trust.
  • Bonding and motivation.
  • Better interpersonal relationships.
  • Increased motivation and a sense of achievement.
  • More energy and receptivity.
  • Learning acute listening skills.
  • Increasing focus, alertness and concentration.

Why competition at work is good

Don’t be afraid of competition at work

They say there’s nothing like a little friendly competition at work to bring people together. After hosting so many team building events and experiencing team building activities, we have proof to back that up. People love a little friendly competition, so much so that most of our Team Building Activities have some competitive elements.

Competition at work drives us to do better

competition at work
Rock & Roll Gameshow

Competition works as a motivator because it pushes us to exceed and do better. Not only are we driven to exceed our own capabilities, but also those of our teammates and coworkers as well. Friendly competition in a relaxed setting, encourages people to work together and to spend time together, creating social bonds which strengthen teamwork. Taking it a step further, competition fosters cooperation, which is the backbone of good teamwork.

“One man can be a crucial ingredient on a team, but one man cannot make a team. -Kareem Abdul-Jabbar”

We all know how easy it can be to become jealous and in some cases people can take it to heart if they are losing, which can cause bad feeling. Sore losers can easily spoil the fun, while bragging winners can also ruin a joyous atmosphere. How do you keep the event friendly whilst still encouraging people to compete against each other?

Some of our programs feature some kind of contest, for example our gameshow event is structured around the idea that competition brings out the best in people, plus there are several rounds where everyone can win something. Our rock band experience sees people taught to play an instrument and then rehearse in a band before competing in the battle of the bands. Our facilitators are specially trained to keep the games friendly and exciting, They’ll make sure bragging winners or sore losers won’t spoil the event for anyone. All our events are fun and engaging, so that everyone walks away feeling like a winner! Why not get in contact today to discuss our range of events and see what would suit your company.
